Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The finance ministry on Monday asked the central bank to downsize its existing salary grades to almost half as part of formulating a separate pay scale.
It has also asked it to submit the revised separate pay scale proposal upon downsizing the grades to seven to eight from the existing 16 within the next 15 days.
The ministry sent a letter to the Bangladesh Bank (BB) governor in this connection on Monday mentioning decisions of the second meeting of the secretaries’ committee, officials said.
“We’ve received the letter from the finance ministry on Monday and will discuss the issues with our higher authorities soon,” a BB senior official said, adding that it will be difficult for the central bank to bring down the grades to almost half from the existing 16.
The finance ministry has also advised the central bank to rationalize the existing allowances and other facilities excepting salary in the revised proposal.
The second meeting of the secretaries’ committee was held on August 10 last at the Cabinet Division with Cabinet Secretary Abdul Aziz in the chair.
