Bangladesh Bank launches probe into IT contract award

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh Bank (BB) formed an inquiry committee to investigate the allegation of awarding a training contract to the organisation of a young man who wished death for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina through social media.
The central bank has selected eight institutions from different parts of the country for providing training under the project ‘Skills for Employment Investment Program (SEIP)’.
Creative IT Ltd is one of the selected institutions with Monir Hossain its chairman.
After the investigators file their findings, it would take due measures "in accordance with the regulations of the bank" against the contracted, if the report is true, a BB statement said.
Referring to the report published on February 2 by a Bangla daily, the central bank said the report mentions of the organisation "Creative IT Limited" that has recently been awarded a contract at the central bank.
The report claimed that the chairman of the IT firm, Munir Hossain, is a person who had wished death to the prime minister.
Having gone through the news story on Monir Hossain, the central bank has instantly formed an investigation body to look into the matter, the release said.
The central bank claimed to have not paid any money to any of the selected firms.
