Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-The Bangladesh government blocked social networking sites Twitter, Skype and Imo for security reasons on Sunday just three days after lifting ban on popular social media site Facebook, said officials.
The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) sent a letter on Sunday evening to all of the country’s mobile phone operators and telecom service providers asking them to hault the services immediately.
BTRC took the step following instructions from the government, of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), Chairman Shahjahan Mahmood of BTRC told the BBN in Dhaka.
Earlier on November 18, the government blocked the social networking sites Facebook and online messaging and calling services WhatsApp and Viber for security reasons.
Later after a gap of 22 days unlocked popular social networking platform Facebook on December 10.
