Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh capital Dhaka turned into red and green on Tuesday as the nation is celebration the historic victory of Bangladesh cricket team over England to reach the quarterfinals of the World Cup.
On Monday, Bangladesh moved to the quarterfinals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 for the first time in the history knocking out England from the WC by 15 runs at Adelaide Oval in Australia.
The outstanding triumph drew huge appreciation both from home and abroad.
People from all walks of life specially the student of Dhaka University came out to the streets wielding the red and green national flags and tying badges on the foreheads.
Common people also joined them bringing out processions with colourful festoons and placards.
They cheered the Bangladesh team and chanted slogans -Bangladesh! Bangladesh! Tigers! Tigers!
Meanwhile, leaders and activists of ruling Awami Leagues and BNP also brought out processions to celebrate Tigers’ victory.
Earlier on Monday night, the BNP-led 20-party alliance has relaxed its ongoing general strike for 12 hours from 6:00am Tuesday to celebrate the Tigers’ victory.
The indefinite blockade of the alliance which began from January 5 however is going on.
