Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladeshi Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed has said that the country's exports would reach $60 billion by 2021 which will also be the country's 50th year of independence.
The minister claim came at a "Bangladesh Business Forum" organized jointly by the Milan Chamber of Commerce and the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) at the Milan Expo-2015, reports the fibre2fashion.
In his speech, Ahmed said that Bangladesh had diversified its exports and its export basket was no longer limited to readymade garments.
"Today Bangladesh also exports pharmaceuticals, cement, toiletries, electronic equipment, leather goods and IT services," he said.
The minister said that currently the annual exports of the country stood at over $31 billion and was increasing at a whopping rate of 12.5 per cent per annum.
