Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– National Pay and Services Commission submitted its report on Sunday to the finance minister recommending minimum salary at BDT 8,200 and maximum at BDT 80,000.
Commission Chairman and former governor of the Bangladesh Bank Mohammad Farashuddin handed the report to Minister AMA Muhith at his office on Sunday morning.

“We’ve proposed doubling the basic salary on the average for the 13 lakh civil servants employed in the country,” Farashuddin told reporters after submitting the report.
The main objective of the pay hike of the civil servants was to provide incentive and curb on corruption among the civil servants employed in Bangladesh.
After receiving the report, the finance minister said the new pay scale will come into effect from July 1, 2015. “I am pleased to receive such a report. It will be implemented.”
The commission proposed the basic pay (special category) for senior secretaries at BDT 88,000 from existing BDT 42,000 and BDT 100,000 for cabinet secretary and the principal secretary from BDT 45,000.
The report proposed highest amount of raise for BCS cadres, raising their basic entry level salary at BDT 25,000 from the existing basic of BDT 11,000.
The 17-member Eighth Pay and Service Commission was formed in November 2013.
