Last updated: September 21, 2010

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The government has established a bio-safety lab (BSL-3) at the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) in the capital Dhaka to identify viruses in a quicker and accurate manner.

The bio-safety lab, first of its kind in the country, set up at a cost of BDT 60 million, is designed for dealing with infectious materials so that handlers can remain safe from any infectious virus attack, officials said on Tuesday.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Ruhal Haque is expected to inaugurate the bio-safety lab in October this year.
