Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has extended the timeframe for submitting the applications for much-talked about VoIP license for nearly one month.
The telecom regulator earlier fixed the period of submitting the applications from September 2-6 which is now revised from September 30 to October 4.
Following the decision of the authority, the applicants for the license of the VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) service will get enough time to process their applications appropriately.
The government has taken the decision of issuing VoIP license under the name of ‘VoIP service Provider’ (VSP) for reducing illegal international voice call as the number of legal calls is falling significantly.
The number of VSP licence to be issued will depend on the number of application seekers, a BTRC senior official said adding even they have to observe the gateway license holders` performance.
Under the existing guideline, the application fee for VSP has been fixed at BDT 5000, license fee at BDT 0.5 million and annual license fee at BDT 0.1 million.
