Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– The Bangladesh government has floated a fresh tender to build a 210 megawatt (mw) gas-fired combined cycle power unit on turnkey basis at Ghorashal under Norshingdhi district, officials said.
“We’ve started selling tender documents from mid-March and will continue selling the same until June 12 this year,” a Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) said, adding that the deadline for bid submission is June 13, 2012.

The state-owned has invited bids to build the plant naming it ‘Re-powering project of Ghorashal 3rd unit.’
The project will be the 3rd unit of the existing Ghorashal power plant where necessary infrastructures like land and gas connection are already in existence.
The bid winner will be responsible for engineering, design, manufacturing, inspection, supply, installation, erection, testing and commissioning of the existing Ghorashal 3rd unit after re-powering the same on turnkey basis, they added.
The power plant will have to be completed within 660 days of signing the deal for simple cycle and within 900 days for re-powering of steam turbine, said the BPDB official.
The power plant will be built as per the government move to enhance electricity generation to 8,000 mw by 2015 and 20,000 mw by 2021.
