Bangladesh for constitutionally resolving internal affairs of Maldives

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - While Bangladesh considers the recent developments to be internal affairs of the Maldives, it hopes that these will be resolved in accordance with the constitutional process of the country. 
“Bangladesh would like to urge restraint, avoidance of violence and upholding of the rule of law,” a foreign ministry a press statement in the capital Dhaka on Friday.
The statement said Bangladesh further hopes that the Maldives, a close neighbor and fellow member of SAARC and the Commonwealth, will be able to achieve an early and full resolution of the situation peacefully, upholding the spirit of the SAARC Charter of Democracy and the fundamental values of the Commonwealth. 
“Bangladesh is confident that the safety and security of all residents in the Maldives, including Bangladesh nationals working there, will be protected by the Government of the Maldives,” it noted. 
Bangladesh is also confident that the Maldives will continue to move forward and grow in democracy and development, reflecting the will and aspirations of the people, the foreign ministry added.
