Bangladesh govt unlocks Facebook

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-The Bangladesh government after a gap of 22 days unlocked popular social networking platform Facebook on Thursday.
Earlier on November 18, the government blocked the social networking sites Facebook and online messaging and calling services WhatsApp and Viber for security reasons.
The restriction had came hours after the Bangladesh Supreme Court delivered verdicts upholding the death penalties of two war criminals.
The war criminals were: BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujaheed.
Later, they were hanged.
"The bar on Facebook is lifted today," Dr Shahjahan Mahmood, chairman of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), told the BBN in Dhaka.
The embargo on WhatsApp and Viber however remain considering security aspects, Mahmood added.
