Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh has handed over relief materials to the Japanese authorities.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan A K M Majibur Rahman Bhuiyan accompanied by embassy officials handed over the relief goods to the Japanese officials on March 31, according to a message received here on Saturday.
The emergency humanitarian assistance includes 2,000 blankets, 500 rubber boots and 1,000 rubber gloves.
While receiving the relief materials, Japanese officials thanked the Bangladesh government for the friendly gesture. The Bangladesh ambassador also reiterated Bangladesh government's commitment to stand by the friendly people of Japan.
Meanwhile, the Japanese foreign ministry in a press release on March 29 thanked the Bangladesh government, its people as well as the Bangladeshi diaspora in Japan for their sympathy and gesture following the massive earthquake and monster tsunami that hit the northeastern coast of Japan on March 11.
Ambassador Majibur Rahman Bhuiyan met with Makiko Kikuta, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, at her office on March 30 to inform about the consignment of Bangladesh.
The Japanese Vice-Minister mentioned that the materials would be immensely beneficial to the affected people in view of the hardships compounded by the inclement weather conditions in the aftermath of the disaster.
