Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh is the highest contributor of female police to the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping operations with a total of 211 female officers deployed in it.
Ann-Marie Orler, the highest ranking police official of the UN system, said this in a statement of the UN Information Centre, Dhaka on Tuesday.
Bangladesh’s contribution is helping the UN to progress towards its goal of having 20 percent female police deployment to the peacekeeping operations that is currently 10.4 percent, she added.
Bangladesh currently deploys female police to seven UN peacekeeping missions at the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, Timor-Leste, Haiti, Liberia, Sudan and South Sudan.
