Bangladesh Inflation Rises in December

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s inflationary pressure on the economy increased in December mainly because of rise in prices of both food and non-food items.

Inflation as measured by the consumers' price index (CPI) rose to 8.45 per cent in December 2025 from 8.29 per cent of the previous month on the point-to-point, according to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS)’s latest data.

On the other hand, the inflation rate came down to 8.77 per cent during the period under review from 8.96 per cent a month ago on the 12-month average basis.

The BBS data show that the rate of inflation in the case of non-food items reached at 9.13 per cent in December 2025 from 9.08 per cent a month before while the food inflation rose to 7.71 per cent from 7.36 per cent on the point-to-point basis.
