Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The central bank of Bangladesh will introduce a core banking software from Sunday aiming to settle all types of transactions in both the government and commercial banks, officials said.
BB Governor Atiur Rahman instructed all nine branch offices general managers (GMs) of the central bank via a teleconference on Thursday in this connection.
However, the current manual system will also be continued until further instruction is given to the branches, they added.
The central bankers said the BB has decided to introduce the software as the banking activities and government transactions have sharply increased over the past few years in the country.
The new system will also reduce the financial risks such as fake currencies in the country as the BB officials will be able to enter their transaction data through the computer software.
The fund managers of the respective banks will also be able to check their accounts instantly whether the transaction has been settled with the central bank smoothly.
