Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The Bangladesh government has invited bids from international firms to set up the country’s first LNG-based power plant by the private sector in a bid to ease the nationwide power crisis.

State-owned Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) floated tender last week seeking expression of interest (EoI) from the potential sponsors to establish a minimum 200 megawatts (mw) LNG based power plant on build, own and operate (BOO) basis.

The sponsor must have experience of building such power plants of similar or higher capacity, according to tender documents.
