Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh has issued an alert asking its nationals to stay away from travelling to Libya in the wake of ongoing fighting and deteriorating security situation in the war-torn country.
"Bangladesh nationals including migrant workers are again strongly advised not to undertake any visit to Libya in view of the ongoing fighting and deteriorating security situation," said a press statement of the Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is monitoring the situation and further requesting Bangladesh nationals to refrain from visiting Libya until the further notification in this regard," the statement added.
Unless unavoidable, visiting Bangladesh nationals from Libya are also advised to refrain from travelling back to Libya for the time being.
Following the prolonged war, Bangladesh last year suspended its mission in Libya and relocated its staff to Tunisia.
According to official data, around 40,000 Bangladeshi nationals are now staying in Libya.
