Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said the government is keen to resolve the issues of trans-boundary rivers with amicable negotiation with neighboring countries.

Bangladesh and India has come to a consensus for signing of the Teesta water sharing deal, the PM told the officials of the water resources ministry during her visit at Bangladesh Secretariat Sunday.

The government is making its constant efforts for signing of the Teesta river water sharing agreement with India, he added.

She also stressed the need for efforts of all the neighbouring countries on resolving the water resources issues of the common rivers in this region.

The much-discussed Ganges Barrage would be constructed under a joint initiative with neighbouring countries, she added.

She asked the ministry of water resources to take flood control measures and river training keeping pace with nature.

The premier also asked the officials to carry out a study on the necessity of existing sluice gates across the country and execution of the present government's river dredging and river training projects.

The lives and livelihood of the millions of people of the country rotate on water from ancient age as more than four hundred including 57 trans-boundary rivers crisscrossed the country.
