Karachi, Pakistan (BBN)-Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has approached former Pakistan skipper and perhaps one of the best pacers, Wasim Akram, in order to hire him as their bowling consultant, media reports has said.
According to Thursday’s reports, BCB contacted Wasim Akram in this regard during the recently-concluded World Twenty20 Championship in Bangladesh but the contract is yet to be finalised, reports The International News.
“Our officials have talked to Wasim (Akram) on the matter, during the World T20 Championship”, BCB media committee chairman, Jalal Yunus, was quoted as saying by a local TV channel.
However, the spokesman added that no official meeting has taken place with the former Test pacer so far.
“We are waiting for Wasim Akram’s response and after that we would meet him officially to reach a deal. If Wasim shows his unavailability for a long-term contract than we would ask him to join for an initial stint so that we could be able to make a strong outfit for the series against India, who are scheduled to tour Bangladesh in June, and for the tour of West Indies in August this year,” he said.
Former Pakistan Test bowlers Mushtaq Ahmed and Saqlain Mushtaq have been working as consultants for England and West Indies respectively with the later credited to have prepared the lethal spin duo of Sunil Narine and Samuel Badree.
