Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-All the four maritime ports of Bangladesh have been advised to hoist distant cautionary signal no 1 as a depression over the eastcentral Bay and adjoining area moved slightly north-northeastwards over the same area Thursday.

The ports are: Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra.

All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised not to venture into the deep sea until further notice, said a special bulletin of Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

The depression was centered about 645 kms South Southwest of Chittagong port, 555 kms South Southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 665 kms South of Mongla port and 615 kms South of Payra port at 9:00am Thursday, the bulletin added.

It is likely to intensify further and move in a north-northeasterly direction.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 44 kms of the depression centre is about 40 kph rising to 50 kph in gusts or squalls.

The sea will remain moderate.
