Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-The final match of AFC Under-14 Girls’ Regional Championship between Bangladesh and Nepal was postponed due to the earthquake, reports a private television channel in Bangladesh.
The final match was pushed back as the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu was damaged during the 7.9 magnitude earthquake that rattled Nepal on Saturday, reports Somoy tv.
Bangladesh U-14 team was scheduled to take on hosts Nepal in the final match at 4:15pm (BST) on Saturday.
The fresh date of the match however was not known immediately.
According to CNN report: Nepal’s Ministry of Home Affairs says more than 150 people have died in the capital, Kathmandu, following a 7.9 magnitude earthquake.
A massive 7.9 magnitude earthquake has hit Nepal with devastating force less than 50 miles from the capital, Kathmandu, the U.S. Geological Survey said Saturday.
Witnesses said people had been killed and injured, and historic buildings in Kathmandu had tumbled to the ground.
The full extent of the deaths, injuries and damage has not yet begun to emerge.
Bangladesh reached the first-ever final stand in any international event after beating Iran 2-0 in the second semifinal at the same venue on Friday.
On the other hand, Nepal beating India by a single goal moved into the final.
