
Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Classified loans in the country’s banking sector surged to an all-time high of BDT 6.44 trillion in September 2025, representing 35.73 per cent of the BDT 18.04 trillion in total outstanding loans across all scheduled banks.
The amount of non-performing loans (NPLs) rose to BDT 6.44 trillion as of September 30 this calendar year, up from BDT 6.08 trillion recorded on June 30, 2024, According to the latest Bangladesh Bank statistics released on Wednesday.
The share of NPLs also rose to 35.73 per cent of the total outstanding loans during the July-September period, compared with 34.40 per cent three months ago. It was 24.13 per cent as on March 31 this year.
