Bangladesh opposition leader goes on trial for graft

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh's opposition leader Khaleda Zia went on trial on Monday charged with embezzling US$650,000 in two graft cases that could see her jailed for life if found guilty.
The two corruption cases are – Zia Orphanage and Zia Charitable Trust graft cases.
The trial formally began at Judge Bashudeb Roy of Special Judge’s Court-3 through the recording of the deposition of a witness in the BNP Chairperson's absence.
Next hearing on the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case will be held on October 13.
