Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Payment system of Bangladesh has been hampered mainly due to the lack of proper security management across the country, experts said.
The country’s most of the ATM booths are now out of cash while all the scheduled banks have been asked not to allow cash withdrawals of more than BDT 0.10 million (one lakh) on Thursday amid the ongoing unstable situation.
The banks have also been advised to stop money feeding to the branches if possible amid the weak security system because of the absence of police on the streets since Sheikh Hasina resigned as prime minister and fled the country on August 5.
The central bank has also suggested encouraging the depositors to pay their parties through crossed checks instead of cash.
On the other hand, many branches were running low on cash as money supply had been disrupted because of inadequate security over the last several days.
Panic gripped the country people since August 06 as police go on an work abstention, citing their own safety amid reports of deadly attacks on policemen and different police stations.
