Bangladesh releases new BDT 10, 20, 50 bank notes

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The central bank of Bangladesh has released three new banknotes of BDT 10, 20 and 50 denominations with portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Dr Atiur Rahman unveiled the new notes at a ceremony at the central bank in the capital Dhaka on Wednesday to mark the historic 7th March.
Besides, five-taka coin with Bangabandhu's portrait would be released soon, the central bank chief said.
The new three notes bear the signature of BB Governor Dr Atiur Rahman. Apart from Bangbandhu's portrait, photo of the national mausoleum was lightly printed on the background of the three notes. 
Portrait of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque is printed on the backside BDT 10 note, while that of Satgambuz Masjid, Bagerhat on the backside of BDT 20 note, and 'ploughing', a historic painting of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin, is printed on BDT 50 note.
The BB governor said all the existing notes in the market would remain operative side by side with the new currencies.
