Bangladesh sees stray violence in blockade, 10 hurt

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-At least seven people sustained injuries as Bangladesh has been witnessing some stray incidents of violence during the non-stop countrywide blockade coupled with strike since Wednesday morning.
The incidents of violence include arson attack, petrol bomb attack, vandalism and detention, media reports said.
The incidents of violence reported from different parts of Dhaka, Narayanganj, Feni, Gazipur, Mymensingh and Barisal.

In Feni and Barisal, at least 10 persons sustained burn injuries as miscreants hurled petrol bombs on vehicles.

The state of two of the injured was stated to be critical.
BNP-led 20-party alliances have announced the agitation programmes demanding a fresh national election, protesting confinement of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and arrest of party leaders and activists.
The country has been experiencing a 48-hour hartal since Wednesday morning in Dhaka and Khulna divisions on the same issues.
Meanwhile, five leaders and activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, were arrested along with dozens of homemade bombs and explosive-making materials in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.
Police also arrested a BNP leader of Narayanganj city, a central region of Bangladesh, when he was trying to bring out a procession in support of the strike in the city, media reports said.
