Bangladesh shares closest ties with OIC members

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh government has said Bangladesh enjoys the closest ties with the OIC member states and that will continue to be fostered through regular dialogue, understanding and cooperation, according to a news agency.

Bangladesh Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali came with the positive attitude while briefing the OIC (Organisation of Islamic Cooperation) Ambassadors from the Middle East and North Africa based in Dhaka on Sunday.

This was the fourth in the series of diplomatic briefings organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for envoys in Dhaka following the assumption of office by the newly-elected government, said a Foreign Ministry media release.

The envoys of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Palestine, Egypt, Morocco and Libya attended the briefing.

The foreign minister exchanged views with the OIC ambassadors on the overall political and economic situation in Bangladesh following the 10th parliamentary elections held on January 5, 2014.

During the discussion, the minister reiterated Bangladesh’s commitment to work with the Muslim countries from the Middle Eastern and North African regions both bilaterally and under the ambit of OIC in order to help address the challenges facing by the Muslim Ummah.
