Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): Stock prices on the bourses gained for the second running session on Wednesday with turnover improved slightly as most investors went for buying mood in lucrative prices of shares.

The General Index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DGEN) ended at 3,673.50 points, rising 18.76 points or 0.51 per cent.

The DSEX went up by 22.99 points or 0.65 per cent to close at 3,526.13. The DSE-30 Index (DS30) also advanced 6.74 points or 0.51 per cent to close at 1,319.76.

Total turnover on the premier bourse stood at BDT 1.45 billion, a 11.54 per cent rise from the previous session’s BDT 1.30 billion.

Of the 267 issues traded at the DSE, 181 advanced, 63 declined and 23 remained unchanged.

United Airways was the most traded stocks on the day with shares worth Tk 152.96 million changing hands. Orion Pharma, Premier Cement, Unique Hotel and Resorts and Summit Purbanchol Power were next popular stocks.

United Airways was also the day’s highest gainer, posting a rise of 9.03 per cent while ICB first NRB Mutual Fund was the day’s worst loser, slumping by 9.01 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed positive with the Selective Categories Index gained 39.02 points or 0.56 per cent to close at 6,968.74 points.

Gainers beat losers 106 to 52 with 17 issues remaining unchanged on the port city bourse that traded 7.23 million shares and mutual fund units on a value of Tk 204.34 million.
