Bangladesh stocks see roller coaster ride at midday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh’s stocks witnessed roller coaster ride at midday on Thursday as the markets could not sustain the positive trend of the morning.
Both the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the prime bourse of Bangladesh, and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), the port city bourse of the country, opened with a positive note when the market opened at 10:30am.
But as the time passed, the DSE and CSE failed to hold the trend as investors failed to predict the future after over after  two hours of trading on the fifth session of the week, experts said.
The key index of the DSE experienced negative trend while the two other index – DS30 and DS Shariah – saw positive trend.
Among the five indexes in CSE, three indexes including the Selective Category Index witnessed negative trend while the two remaining index indicated positive mood after over two hours of trading.
The key index of Dhaka Stock Exchange went down 1.22 points while the Selective Category Index of Chittagong Stock Exchange plunges 0.78 points when this report was updated around 12:50pm.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
After over two hours of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, stood at 4,579.58 points dropped 1.22 points or 0.03 per cent at 12:50pm.
However, the DS30 index, comprising blue chips, gains 3.59 points or 0.20 per cent to reach at 1,762.79.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) dropped 2.52 points or 0.22 per cent to reach at 1,123.42.
Turnover on DSE stood at BDT 2.35 billion when this report was updated at 12:50pm.
Of the issues traded till then, 92 advanced, 159 declined and 61 issues remained unchanged.
Bangladesh Lafarge Surma Cement Ltd, was remained the most traded stocks till then with shares BDT 201 million changing hands followed by United Power Generation & Distribution Company Ltd, Bangladesh Steel Re-Rolling Mills Limited, Beximco Pharma, Khulna Power Company Limited and IFAD Autos Limited.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) witnessed positive trend after two hours of trading as its Selective Category Index – CSCX – gains .78 points to stand at 8, 602.99 at 12:48pm.
Of the issues traded till then, 65 gained, 107 declined and 37 issues remained unchanged with a turnover value of BDT 149 million.
