Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): Declining trend continued in the bourses for the fourth running session on Wednesday with lower turnover value as worried investors’ went for selling shares to stay safe.

The General Index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange —DGEN ended at 4,254.55 points, shedding 46.56 points or 1.08 per cent.

The DSE Broad Index (DSEX) went down by 54.81 points or 1.30 per cent to close at 4,155.45 points. The DSE-30 Index (DS30) also declined 20.53 points or 1.34 per cent to close at 1,502.86.

The turnover on the premier bourse — DSE went down by 20.07 per cent to BDT 4.34 billion against previous session’s BDT 5.43 billion.

Of the 272 issues traded on the premier bourse, 36 advanced, 204 and 32 remained unchanged.

Summit Purbanchol Power Company topped the turnover list with shares worth BDT 288.94 million changing hands. United Airways, RN Spinning and Argon Denims were the day’s next popular stocks.

Modern Dyeing was also the day’s highest gainer posting a rise of 9.51 per cent while Generation Next Fashion was the worst loser, slumping by 7.85 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed lower with the Selective Categories Index of the CSE lost 127.71 points to close at 8,284.25 points.

Losers beat gainers 16 to 158 with 13 issues remaining unchanged on the port city bourse with 12.48 million shares and mutual fund units were trading volume, generating Tk 501.66 million in turnover.
