Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-The government of Bangladesh has suspended popular internet calling and messaging services Viber and Tango on security purpose.
Sarowar Alam, the secretary of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), confirmed this to the BBN Sunday afternoon.
“The government has suspended the operation of the Viber and Tango for some time,” said Mr Alam declining to elaborate further.
He however did not specify the time of the suspension.
The BTRC has already sent letters to the mobile phone operators and international internet gateway operators regarding the suspension.
