Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Appreciating mode of Bangladesh Taka (BDT) against the US dollar continued in the inter-bank foreign exchange (forex) market in evening transactions on Monday.
The US dollar was quoted at BDT 80.53-BDT 80.55 at closing on Monday evening.
During the early trading, the local currency was quoted at maximum BDT 80.53-BDT 80.56.
“Such appreciating of the BDT may continue in the coming days follower lower demand for the greenback in the market,” a senior treasury official of a leading commercial bank told the BBN in Dhaka Monday evening.
On Sunday, Bangladesh Taka appreciated by two paisa against the US dollar in the inter-bank foreign exchange market and it was quoted at maximum BDT 80.54 at closing.
On Thursday, the value of the US currency was BDT 80.55-BDT 80.56.
Bangladesh foreign exchange market remained closed on Friday and Saturday as those were weekend in the country.
