“We’ve been confirmed that the US currency was quoted at maximum BDT 78.75 due to higher demand for the greenback in the market,” a senior treasury official of a leading private commercial bank (PCB) told the BBN in Dhaka.
He also said most of the banks are also quoting higher rates on the US dollar for both customer and exporter level.
However, the local currency deprecated by around six paisa against the US dollar at customer level on Tuesday on the same ground, he added.
The exchange rate of the US dollar at customer level rose to BDT 79.5212 on Tuesday from 79.4615 on Monday. It was BDT 79.3740 on Sunday.
However, the inter-bank call money rate remained stable in the range between 2.75 per cent and 4.50 per cent on the day mainly due to sufficient inflow of fund into the market.
