Bangladesh Taka depreciates slightly against greenback

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The exchange rate of Bangladesh Taka depreciates slightly against the US dollar in the evening transactions in the inter-bank foreign exchange market on Thursday.
The US dollar was quoted at maximum BDT 80.65-BDT 80.66 during the evening trading.
In the opening transactions, it was quoted at maximum BDT 80.64 unchanged from the previous working level.
“The exchange rate of the Bangladesh Taka depreciated slightly against the US dollar due to higher demand of the greenback in the market for settling of import payment obligations particularly food, petroleum products and capital machineries,” a senior treasury official of a leading commercial bank told the BBN in Dhaka Thursday evening.
The exchange rate of the local currency remained stable from the evening trading of July 12 that means it was quoted at maximum BDT 80.64 till today morning transactions.
Bangladesh foreign exchange market remained closed on Friday and Saturday as those were weekend in the country.
