Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The exchange rate of Bangladesh Taka (BDT) depreciated by maximum two paisa against the US currency during the evening transactions on Wednesday in the inter-bank foreign exchange (forex) market.

The US dollar was quoted at maximum BDT 80.77 against BDT 80.75 of the previous working day.

“The local currency depreciated two paisa against the US dollar in the inter-bank foreign exchange market due to higher demand of the greenback for making import settlement obligations particularly for food grain import,” a senior treasury official of a leading private commercial bank (PCB) told the BBN in Dhaka Wednesday evening.
