Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The Bangladesh Taka (BDT) depreciated by maximum 4 paisa against the US dollar on Wednesday in inter-bank foreign exchange (forex) market.
The US currency, in the morning, opened 78.58 unchanged from the previous level.
During the trading time, it hovered in a range of 78.60-78.62.
“The depreciation of the domestic unit came due to higher demand for the greenback in the market,” a senior treasury official of a commercial bank told the BBN in Dhaka.
On Tuesday, the BDT deprecated by nearly eight paise against the US dollar at customer level due to higher demand for the greenback in the market.
The exchange rate of the US dollar at customer level rose to BDT 79.2487 on Tuesday from BDT 79.1746 of the previous level. It was BDT 79.1237 on Sunday.
