Last updated: January 26, 2017

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The depreciating mood of Bangladesh Taka (BDT) against the US dollar continued during the evening transactions on Thursday in the inter-bank foreign exchange (forex) market.
The US dollar was quoted at BDT 79.03 – BDT 79.05 against BDT 78.99- BDT 79.00 of the previous working day.
“The depreciating mode of BDT continued due to higher demand for the greenback in the market for settlement of import payment obligations for essential commodity, readymade garments, pharmaceuticals and capital machinery,” a senior treasury official of a leading commercial bank told the BBN in Dhaka Thursday evening.
“The mood may continue in the next week also,” the treasury official hinted.
On Tuesday the greenback was quoted at BDT 78.97 – BDT 78.98 while on Monday, the US currency was quoted at BDT 78.96 – BDT 78.98 unchanged the level of previous working day.
