Bangladesh Taka depreciating mood continues

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The depreciating mood of Bangladesh Taka (BDT) against the US dollar continued in the evening transactions on Thursday in inter-bank foreign exchange (forex) market.
The US dollar was quoted at maximum BDT 79.12 – BDT 79.14 in the evening trading against BDT 79.12 of the previous working day.
“The depreciating mood of the local currency is prevailing in the market against the US currency due to higher demand for the greenback to settle import payment obligations,” a senior treasury official of a leading commercial bank told the BBN in Dhaka Thursday evening.
On Tuesday, the greenback was quoted at BDT 79.0950 - BDT 79.1000 against BDT 79.06-BDT 79.07 of the previous working day.
On Sunday the dollar was quoted at BDT 79.05.
On the last day of the last week, the local currency was quoted at BDT 79.03 – BDT 79.05.
