Bangladesh Taka downward trend continues against US$

Last updated: January 11, 2017

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The depreciating trend of Bangladesh Taka (BDT) against the US dollar continued from Tuesday in inter-bank foreign exchange (forex) market.
The US dollar was quoted at maximum BDT 78.80-BDT 78.81 during the evening trading on Wednesday against BDT 78.70-78.76 of the previous working day.
“The depreciating mood of the local currency against the US dollar continued as the demand of the greenback increased following settlement of import-payment obligations for essential commodities and capital machinery for energy and power sector,” a senior treasury official of a commercial bank told the BBN in Dhaka Wednesday evening.
Such trend of the BDT against the US currency could continue in the next couple of days, he added.
