Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The exchange rate of Bangladesh Taka (BDT) against the US dollar maintained stable tone in the last week. The market may see the same tone in the current week as well, experts said.

The average daily inter-bank USD/BDT transaction volume was about $25.73 million against around $50.23 million of the previous week, according to the market operators.

Most of the banks kept their published foreign exchange rates unchanged last week. The USD/BDT selling rates for importers of major foreign and private banks was at 77.82-78.35, while USD buying rates from exporters were at 76.82-77.35.

For non-commercial payments such as tele graphic transfer as donations, wage earners remittance, dollar drafts etc, the average T.T Buying rate was in the range of 76.82-77.35 while average T.T Selling rate was at 78.0678 on the last working day.

USD/BDT swap market last week was very much active. The daily average volume of swap transaction was around $ 48.50 million.

On the other hand, the call money market traded around 7.00 per cent. The Bangladesh Bank (BB) supported commercial banks through assured liquidity support and reverse REPO auctions.

The BB accepted 91-day and 364-day treasury bills (-bills). The cutoff yield of 91-day T-Bill was 7.35 percent and 364-day was 7.99 per cent. It also accepted 15-Year Govt. Treasury bond at yield of 11.97 per cent and 20 Years Govt. Treasury bond at yield of 12.14 per cent, according to the auction result.
