Bangladesh Taka returns to depreciating mode

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh Taka returned to the depreciating mode against the US dollar during the evening transactions on Tuesday in the inter-bank foreign exchange (forex) market.
The US dollar was quoted at maximum BDT 80.60 during the evening trading.
During the opening trading the US dollar was quoted at BDT 80.58-BDT 80.60 unchanged from the previous level in the inter-bank foreign exchange market.
“Local currency remained stable against the US dollar despite higher inflow of remittance ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr, the greatest religious festivals of Muslims,” a senior treasury official of a leading commercial bank told the BBN in Dhaka Tuesday evening.
“The local currency may further depreciate in the coming days,” the treasury official hinted.
On Monday, the US currency was quoted at maximum BDT 80.58 – BDT 80.60 during the evening trading.
On Sunday, the American currency was quoted at maximum BDT 80.57, that means, it remained the same as on last Thursday as Sunday is the weekend in international market.
Bangladesh foreign exchange market remained closed on Friday and Saturday as those were weekend in Bangladesh.
