Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The Bangladesh Taka (BDT) sees depreciation against the US dollar after more than seven months stability, treasury officials said.
The US dollar was quoted at BDT 78.41- BDT 78.42 in the inter-bank forex market on Sunday against BDT 78.40- BDT 78.42 of the previous working day, market operators said.
Earlier on March 13 last, the US dollar was quoted at BDT 78.40 in the market.
“It’s indicating that the depreciation trend of BDT against the US dollar may continue in the near future,” a senior treasury official of a leading commercial bank told BBN in Dhaka.
He also said the demand for greenback normally rises before each calendar year ending.
In November 30 last year, the US dollar was quoted at maximum BDT 78.95 in the inter-bank market, he explained.
On the other hand, the inter-bank call money rate remained stable in the range between 2.25 per cent and 4.59 per cent on the day due to increased inflow of fund into the market.
