Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The exchange rate of Bangladesh Taka remained stable against the US dollar in the evening transactions in the inter-bank foreign exchange market on Sunday.
The US dollar was quoted at maximum BDT 79.90 unchanged from the opening trading.
“The exchange rate of the Bangladesh Taka remained stable against the US dollar as Sunday is the weekend in the international market,” a senior treasury official of a leading commercial bank told the BBN in Dhaka Sunday evening.
“The depreciating mode of the BDT may continue in the coming days due to higher demand for the greenback in the market for settlement of import-payment obligations,” the treasury official also hinted.
On the last working day of the last week, the US dollar was quoted at maximum BDT 79.90 during the evening trading.
On the other hand, the Bangladesh Taka also depreciated by nearly 23 paisa against the US dollar at customer level on Sunday, the first working day of the week.
The average exchange rate of the US dollar at customer level rose to BDT 82.3272 on Sunday from BDT 82.0989 of the previous working day.
