Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The ongoing deprecation trend of Bangladesh Taka (BDT) continues in early hours transactions on Wednesday in inter-bank foreign exchange (forex) market.
The US dollar was quoted at BDT 78.47 in the market during the period under review. It was BDT 78.45-BDT 78.46 of the previous working day.
“We’ve been informed about the BDT/US$ rate at 78.47,” a senior treasury official of a commercial bank told BBN in Dhaka.
The official also hinted that it may rise further by the end of the day.
Similarly, the exchange rate of the US dollar at customer level rose to BDT 78.8365 on Tuesday from BDT 78.8015 of the previous working day.
On the other hand, the inter-bank call money rate remained almost stable in the range between 2.25 per cent and 4.50 per cent on the day mainly due to sufficient inflow of fund into the market.
The volume of overall transactions in the inter-bank call money market rose to BDT 43.95 billion on Tuesday from BDT 43.86 billion of the previous data, according to the central bank statistics.
