Bangladesh Taka remains stable against US dollar

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh Taka (BDT) remained stable against the US dollar in the inter-bank foreign exchange market during evening transactions on Thursday.
The exchange rate of the BDT against the US dollar was quoted at maximum BDT 80.55-BDT 80.56 at the evening transactions.
In the opening trading, the exchange rate of the local currency was at maximum BDT 80.54-BDT 80.56, which was one paisa less than the previous working level.
On Wednesday, the US currency was quoted at maximum BDT 80.55-BDT80.56.
“The Bangladeshi currency was in depreciating mode against the US dollar in early hour transactions, but it turned into the stable situation before closing the market on Thursday,” a senior treasury official of a leading private commercial bank explained to the BBN Thursday evening without explaining any reason.
The greenback was quoted at maximum BDT 80.55 on Tuesday.
The Bangladesh Taka (BDT) returned to appreciating mode against the US dollar Thursday morning after a hiatus of over six months in the inter-bank foreign exchange (forex) market.
The Bangladeshi currency had begun its depreciating mode against the US currency on October 27 of 2016. The mode continues till May 17, 2017.
