Bangladesh to announce polls schedule November 2

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The schedule for the ninth parliamentary elections and overdue upazila polls would be announced on November 2, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of Bangladesh ATM Shamsul Huda said on Saturday.

The CEC made the declaration while addressing a training workshop on ‘Electoral Rules and Regulations’ for deputy commissioners (returning officers) at the National Economic Council (NEC) auditorium in the capital, Dhaka.

He directed the deputy commissions (DCs) to work beyond threat and fear from the day of announcing schedule to hold the elections in an impartial manner.

Election Commissioners Muhammad Sohul Hossain and Brig Gen. (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain and Secretary of Election Commission Secretariat M Humayan Kabir were present on the occasion.

Thirty-two deputy commissioners were present at the training program in the first phase while the second phase of the training for the rest 32 DCs would be held on October 28, according reports.
