Sillicon Valley, California (BBN)-Sajeeb Wazed Joy, ICT advisor to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said “Bangladesh’s income in ICT sector will cross One billion US $ within next five years.”
He said this during a presentation at US-Bangladesh Tech Investment Summit, 2014 in Sillicon Valley, California.
This summit was organised by Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS).
Joy said, “In last five years, the vision of Digital Bangladesh of the current government helped to increase the export revenues from 24 million to 200 million US $ in ICT sector. And, we believe, in next five years, we will reach the milestone of One billion US $.” He hopes, the vision of Digital Bangladesh will shape the IT infrastructure, internet service, service to citizen and information-based knowledge and education.
The speakers at the summit think that Bangladesh will be the destination of investment in ICT sector.
The economy of Bangladesh is amicable to foreign investment which will make the country as the world’s next centre point in information and communication sector.
Four thousand IT professionals from 50 different countries and entrepreneurs of 120 companies were present at the summit.
During the exchange of ideas among the possible investors and partners, State Minister for ICT, Zunaid Ahmed Palak , President of BASIS Shameem Ahsan, Chairman of Agrani bank Dr. Khandoker Bazlul Haque, CEO of TIE Global P K Agarwal, Secretary General of BASIS Rasel T Ahmed, US Representative of Congressmen Mitchel Honda also shared their ideas.
State Minister Palak said, government is working as a chief conductor in socio-economic development.
The mission of ICT Ministry is to pave the way of Bangladesh’s development by providing technical support, overall coordination, support and implementing rules and regulations.
