Bangladesh to import 1,125 vehicles for BRTC

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The government has decided to import 1,125 new vehicles for Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) for reorganizing the mass transportation system of the capital Dhaka, communication minister said on Saturday.

"Of the vehicles, the government will import 650 from India, including 300 double-deckers and 50 articulated buses, with Indian credit and 475 from South Korea including 150 air- conditioned buses," Communications Minister Syed Abul Hossain said at a seminar in Dhaka.

Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) organized the seminar styled 'Role of Private Sector in Constructing National Communication Infrastructure' with its president Abul Kashem Khan in the chair.

At the seminar, the business leaders have recommended adopting short, medium and
long-term planning for development of the communication system in the South Asian country.
