Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– The government will import 200,000 metric tons of rice from Thailand this year aiming to ensure food security in the country.
“Thailand has expressed its willingness to import 200,000 metric tons of rice to Bangladesh,” Food and Disaster Management Minister Abdur Razzaque told reporters at his Secretariat office after a meeting with a Thai delegation on Wednesday.
The 14-member delegation led by Thai Commerce Minister Prontiva  Nakasai called on the minister Wednesday afternoon.
The minister also said a Bangladesh delegation will visit Thailand soon to import rice.
