Bangladesh to launch insurance services for rural people in September

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The state-run Jiban Bima Corporation (JBC) is going to launch insurance services for the rural people in September this year, officials said.
The government has appointed the entrepreneurs of Union Information and Service Centres (UISCs) as agent of JBC under Support to Digital Bangladesh A2I program with a view to ensuring social safety and creating job opportunities.
Earlier, Support to Digital Bangladesh A2I program, Local Government Department (LGD) and JBC signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in April, last year.
"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate this service formally in September this year," a JBC senior official said, adding "We will appoint around 4576 entrepreneurs of 68 districts under JBC A2I programme with a view to providing insurance service through UISCs online." 
The JBC has already trained up 4212 entrepreneurs of 27 districts and appointed as agent and gradually rest of the entrepreneurs will be trained up, another official said, adding that this project will generate almost 7000 employments.
He also said the main objective of the initiative is to bring the poor under the insurance coverage that will help them during their woes.
